Waning Summer? Looks stunningly HOT!

Dearest Joey, "We only part to meet again." Now, how well this applies to all of your postings as one is always tinged with a little sadness when one has looked, marvelled even, read with interest, and then one must, reluctantly, leave. But, there is always the thought, and great happiness, that before too long one will be able to return.

That's a beauty Joey! I have ordered some moe lilies for fall planting. I was never really into lilies, but I found out this year that they take up very little room and add such great color to the summer garden.

Your lily is a gorgeous color for this transition into autumn, Joey. I am definitely planning to add a few more Asiatic lilies to my garden this fall; my first--and only one--this summer was such a delight that I want to add more.

I'm glad to see the end of this hot summer, but I hope the beautiful weather of this early fall stays forever!
Such fab timing! Earlier this a.m. I was drooling over the 'Red Velvet' Lily in the Old House Gardens catalog. Talked myself out of it and now you just talked me right back into it! Hope you're having a marvy weekend, Joey!
Hiya Joey

That's a hot photo.

I like the John Gay quote.

The nice thing about your post is this winter I can look back at all the flowers for next year.

MMMM! Lovely outburst of rich colour. Very warming on what is a somewhat cool and dreary morning here.
A beautiful blaze of color Joey. A perfect way to send summer out with a bang, as it's clearly starting to give way to fall.

Actually, One, it has been unseasonably warm!

How sweet, dearest Edith. Your take on life is always unique. Thank you.

Agree Eileen. I like them in bald spots.

Thank you, Carol. All too soon, many leaves will be this same fiery color.

It was indeed a very hot/challenging summer, Rose, with too many grueling days in the garden. Now we are in dire need of rain. But thank you and I agree, Asiatic Lilies are delightful.

Hi Kate. Thanks and go for it! Actually, I've had better weekends (wake/funeral for old dear friend) but do hope yours was wonderful.

Hey, thanks Rob. Hope your kickin' back a bit with a fine glass of wine after your scurried summer. But my, it looks like you live in Paradise and my kind of heaven!

Clever, imac. Thanks :)

Thanks, dear Shady. We go up almost every week for a long weekend. Still much detail for both here and there. Since we go up all year round, we don't close the cottage but the boats, hoists, docks and deck/porch furniture must all still be cleaned and tucked away.

That is so kind, Chad. Thank you.

The rich color, not too red or orange, grabbed me, jodi. I actually purchased it up north for a small gathering at the cottage then brought it back here to enjoy. A gift to my self that keeps on giving :)

Thank you, Clare. Though not yet ready for autumn, yes, a hint of fall is definitely in the air.

Hi Joey? Shoot your toad lilies?? hmmmmm. Will you be using the flowers on one of your special dessert concoctions? ;-)

Hum, good idea, Shady! Or perfect for Toad-in-Hole Breakfast :)

Gorgeous lilies! I can't even imagine a world without color or lilies.

Hi Wendy. Hope this lily loves me enough to stick around next season.

Thank you, dear Kala. Your last photo agreed with this quote.

Me either, Rosey. Thank you.
I thought I was trying Asiatic Lilies for the first time this year - instead, slugs tried them, liked them - and that was the end of them. I have two spares in pots but am not sure they will be happy in pots over winter.

Wonderful, uplifting colour in your collage.
