'HERE WE ARE TO COMFORT YOU ..." (GARDEN BLOGGERS' MUSE DAY) VIOLETS ~ FEBRUARY FLOWER OF THE MONTH)
"Look at us, said the violets blooming at her feet, all last winter we slept in the seeming death but at the right time God awakened us, and here we are to comfort you."
~ Edward Payson Rod

DOWNY YELLOW VIOLET
(Viola pubescens)
____________
THE VIOLET
Down in a green and shady bed,
A modest violet grew;
Its stalk was bent, it hung its head
As if to hide from view.
And yet it was a lovely flower,
Its colour bright and fair;
It might have graced a rosy bower,
Instead of hiding there.
Yet thus it was content to bloom,
In modest tints arrayed;
And there diffused a sweet perfume,
Within the silent shade.
Then let me to the valley go
This pretty flower to see;
That I may also learn to grow
In sweet humility.

I have a long bad family history with...we'll see.
I always enjoyed Garden Bloggers' Muse Day. Not sure why I stopped participating.

Hi Donna. I often forget too but needed something cheery after all my past snow posts :)
Indeed happy spring faces, dearest Edith, but as sweet as they are, they are also pests! Not so much the yellow and white as the common purple. In the lawn, they are weeds!
Laura
Delighted to join you, dear Carolyn, and thank you kindly. Stay snuggly warm.
Welcome Mari and thank you. Lovely thoughts for a snowy say.
Thank you, Laura. How kind. Those sweet violets are squeezing through the cracks in my old stone patio. After they finished blooming, I probably ripped them out :)
Thanks Clare. Fun to process something other than snow photos. Just what I needed considering the Whopper on the Way!
Hi Jennifer and thank you. That was at the lake but we have an abundance of snow here too!
Beautiful photo editing!
Hello, Kala, and thank you fun photo sharing friend.
Thanks, Rosey. You wouldn't have to search for violets in my garden/yard ... they are very plentiful in spring. Come help yourself and pick 'til your heart is content :)
I toiled for many years in my old old house to clear out the common invasive violets so I could plant some other things. Now, I go out and buy violets each year for my spring garden. They are beautiful!
Eileen
Wish you lived near, Eileen. I'd only be too happy to share :)
Thanks, Jill :)
